The Channel 5 series finally reached its first nominations of the series tonight, but when presenter Emma Willis showed up alongside a hearty eviction crowd, viewers were convinced a twist would emerge.
Instead, the reality competition’s host went inside the Borehamwood bungalow to complete the awkward task of face-to-face nominations between the likes of housemates India Willoughby, Courtney Act, Ann Widdecombe and Rachel Johnson.
Sharing their feelings on Twitter, one person wrote: “Bit strange having a full crowd just for face to face nominations?”
“They’ve a full crowd for a non-eviction show?” another fan said, followed by: “So no one’s getting evicted? Why did the crowd go to Borehamwood please?”
The confusion went even further when Malika Haqq, 34, who was first up, was told her reasons for nominating former Conservative MP Ann, 70, were invalid.
Stating that she felt the group were constantly “torturing” Ann with their comments and behaviour, Emma replied: “That is not a valid reason,” before adding that she would get confirmation.
As the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was left in limbo, Emma finally put the star out of her misery by agreeing to the reasons.
The drama continued when journalist Rachel Johnson declared that her reasons for nominating Jonny Mitchell were due to not “trusting herself around him”, which was also initially declined.
As viewers decided their patience was wearing thin, one person posted: “#cbbuk these face to face nominations are an absolute shambles. Well done BB you clowns. Moving the goal posts as it happens.”
“Oh @CBB don’t drag this out! You would have let that go if Anne hadn’t said anything #CBBUK,” another irate viewer added.
The episode ended with India and Love Island star Jonny getting the most votes, and will face the public at a live eviction on Friday.
Celebrity Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on Channel 5.
