Viewers recently saw Bob Hope (played by Tony Audenshaw) cheating on his wife Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop).
The affair with Brenda’s friend Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), came to light during the inquest of the murder of Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney).
Laurel was in the running to be pinned for the killing, until it was revealed that she had spent the night with the coffee shop owner.
Now, as Laurel and Bob’s steamy night of passion seems set to be exposed, the cast have opened up on how they’d like to see things play out.
Speaking to TV Times about Brenda and Bob’s strained relationship, Lesley explained: “She wants to make their relationship work. But his infidelity is always in the back of her head.”
Soap star Tony went on defend Bob’s actions, noting: “Bob loves Brenda, but he’s got a spark that he’s discovered with Laurel, and he feels passion when he’s around her.
“Brenda’s like a comfy pair of slippers, and maybe Laurel is a stiletto heel!”
However, the actor admitted that when it comes down to making a choice, he believes Bob and Brenda should stick together.
“I’m about sticking in it for the long haul; that’s the way I think about relationships,” he commented.
“But for me personally, I’d say Brenda.”
Despite the out-of-the-blue affair that Bob shared with Laurel, Tony doesn’t even think that the pair would be compatible in the long term, claiming that he would get bored of her.
“He gets so far in and then he gets itchy feet and moves on. He’s terrible really,” he explained.
But considering that Bob has had seven weddings to five different women, Bob could also end up getting bored of Brenda.
Laurel has also had her fair share of splits, having previously been married to Ashley Thomas (John Middleton) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).
Who will Bob choose, Brenda or Laurel?
