Game of Thrones season 8: Jaime Lannister to betray Cersei in most brutal way – be warned | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The HBO fantasy Game of Thrones last left off with a devastating stand-off between Jaime (played by Nikolaj Coster Waldau) and his sister Cersei (Lena Headey).

The current Queen arranged peace talks with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) in the halls of Kings Landing during the season seven finale.

Yet despite putting on an excellent show to her comrades which saw the group appear to agree to work together to defeat the Night King and his White Walkers, Cersei later revealed that she’d never had any intention of doing just that.

Horrified, Jaime was left feeling stunned and betrayed that the mother of his children could be so truly deceitful.

Now, one fan of George R. R. Martin’s series of novels-turned television series has provided a clever theory about what Jaime will do next.

Reddit user “thetripleb” shared: “I think that Jaime will convince at least a contingent, if not the entire Lannister Army to join him in going North.

“The combined armies go North and fight the army of the dead, defeating it but at great cost. However, the Night King and his dragon are not there. Why?

“They flew south and destroy King’s Landing, trading his army of 100,000 for the 1,000,000 in King’s Landing including Cersei.

“They foeeshadowed it too much in the last episode.”

The theory went on to say that during the final battle he will be forced to kill the troubled Queen, before carving his own path across Westeros.

It continued: “Jaime ends up at the end killing Cersei to fulfil the prophecy in the last battle.

“He survives to become the 1000th Lord Commander and restore the wall and honour to the Night’s Watch.”

If the complex leader’s fate doesn’t end this way however, another fan gave a different rather intriguing possibility.

Submitted by Reddit user “goodolchris”, the theory read: “I think like many others Jaime will be the one to kill [Cersei]. Not only because of the prophecy but it would be so tragic for Jaime.

“Imagine a scenario where Jaime is put in a similar position to when he killed the king, having to choose against saving many lives or his own honour and reputation.”

“Now here is my out of left field prediction… Night King brings Cersei back as the night queen. I would personally love that, I don’t have any evidence but that would be shocking as f**k.”

Game of Thrones is expected to return to Sky Atlantic in 2019.
